Bobby Petrino Tells Staff He’s Louisville’s Coach

Bobby Petrino has informed his Western Kentucky coaching staff that a deal is done to make him the head coach at Louisville, according to a person with knowledge of the conversation.Bobby Petrino Louisville's coach

The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the deal had not been made public.

Louisville is expected to introduce Petrino as its new coach, replacing Charlie Strong, at a 10:30 a.m. Thursday news conference.

The Associated Press reported Wednesday night that Louisville trustee Jonathan Blue that Petrino had accepted the offer to be the Cardinals’ coach.

It will be Petrino’s second stint at Louisville, where he went 41-9 from 2003-06 including an Orange Bowl appearance.

Less than two years ago, Petrino left Arkansas in disgrace after it became public that he had been in a motorcycle accident with his mistress, whom he had hired as an administrative assistant.

Petrino resurfaced at Western Kentucky this year and went 8-4.
