At least eight police officers have been killed in a suspected suicide bomb attack in Pakistan’s southern city of Karachi, local media report.They say dozens of people – policemen and civilians – were injured in the attack which targeted a police vehicle.
“Apparently an explosive-laden car hit the police van transporting officials,” police official Muhammad Iqbal told the AFP news agency.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the explosion.
Karachi is Pakistan’s largest city with an estimated 18 million residents.
It has been plagued by sectarian, ethnic and political violence for years.
On Sunday, gunmen on motorbikes shot dead eight people, including a young girl, in the port city.
