The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of the countries with the most death sentences worldwide. On Tuesday a housemaid was hanged.

Housemaid Executed

Saudi Arabia has, according to the Philippine government, executed a maid who came from the Philippines. The 39-year-old woman was hanged for murder on Tuesday, the Foreign Ministry said on Thursday in Manila. All attempts to save her lives by diplomatic means have failed.

As a result, the Saudi judiciary also refused that the woman could be exempt from the death penalty for some kind of “blood money” to the victim’s family. Details did not mention the ministry.

Saudi Arabia is estimated to have more than one million guest workers from the Philippines. Many are employed in households or on construction sites. The Islamic Conservative Kingdom is one of the countries with the most death sentences worldwide. According to the latest statistics from Amnesty International, at least 146 people were executed in Saudi Arabia in 2017.
