The 28-year-old pocketed just over £50,000 (NZ$100,000) when he took a spectacular one-handed catch off Kieran Powell in the one-day international between New Zealand and West Indies at Seddon Park.
Morton was sat on the banks when the opportunity came to catch a sweet slog into cow corner from Windies left-hander Powell.
The lucky spectator pocketed the big prize in the Tui Catch a Million competition, where crowd members were challenged to catch a six with one hand while wearing a promotional orange T-shirt and lanyard.
‘It’s a bit unbelievable, man. A bit weird to honest,’ Morton told the New Zealand Herald.
‘I was stoked that I caught the catch. It would have been a very long afternoon if I dropped it.’
After four games without a winner, it looked like the jackpot was going to be left unclaimed.
But Morton, at the game with his father, showed Michael Carberry and Co how it should be done.
